In a recently released report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from July 2016 to July 2017, Pennsylvania saw an almost 44% increase in overdose deaths, the largest increase in any state. According to the most recent data from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Philadelphia Division, Schuylkill County saw 59 overdose deaths in 2016, which was a 136% increase.

"In 2016 Schuylkill County experienced 59 deaths due to drug overdoses. Tragically, that’s 59 too many,” said Wolff.  "I want to thank Corey for initiating this discussion and I look forward to listening to all those in attendance to better learn how I can help fight this epidemic and help those families affected when I’m serving in Congress”

“These numbers are staggering. This drug epidemic is ravaging families and splintering communities alike,” said McCabe.“We believe it will take a collaborative effort on all fronts to help combat this crisis we are all experiencing. While Alive2Day does not endorse any particular candidate, we applaud Denny's efforts, candor, and willingness to talk about solutions. People are dying at an alarming rate and we have zero chance of engaging people in treatment if we can’t keep them alive. We need to do better.”
